Kathy has sold real estate since 1983 for Van Newkirk Real Estate. She and her husband, Dave, have 3 children. Stacie in Omaha, Brett and Brian, both in college.

She graduated from the University of South Dakota with a B.S. and attended graduate school at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. She is on the Board of Realtors, the Board of Theatre West, and a member of Scottsbluff Booster Club. She has participated on various task forces for the schools and the cities of Scottsbluff and Gering for Scotts Bluff County Commissioners.
